“Whoever has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay them for what they have done.”
~Proverbs 19:17
Beloved Ones in Christ,
As I reflect in gratitude on the support we have received for our food distribution program, this verse in Proverbs came to my mind. The Lord is glorified when we reach out to help the poor and needy, and we are so thankful for your partnership in helping people in India during this Covid crisis.
As I have written the last few months, the Lord has been gracious in keeping us safe and enabling us to carry on the work of the Lord in India, where the people have been greatly impacted by the Coronavirus. Widespread sickness, unemployment and transportation difficulties are causing many people to suffer in their everyday lives. Making things more difficult, during the last week there have been heavy rains. There have been mudslides, many homes were destroyed, and many people have died. Please pray for God’s mercy on the people of India during this difficult time.
As you know, IEM has been providing food packages to many poor families each week during this crisis. In addition, this month we made a special project of providing food and financial support to the families where our Children’s Home children are residing until the Children’s Home reopens.
I’m happy to report that the Bible College has been able to adapt and provide classes and assignments online to our Bible College students. The students are happy they can continue their studies with guidance from our faculty. We pray that we get permission to reopen the campus soon.
Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic restrictions, we have decided not to conduct our annual banquets this year. Instead, we will be sending a bulletin to update our supporters on the special needs of the ministry and how they can stay involved in the ongoing ministry of IEM. We will miss the time of fellowship we always enjoy during our banquets, but we pray that you will understand and hope that we will see you again soon.
We thank the Lord for each one of you and uphold you in our prayers.
Yours in His Service,
G.V. and Dayan Mathai
