“How precious are Thy thoughts unto me, O God, how great is the sum of them!  If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with Thee.”

Psalm 139:17-18

Dear Ones,

Since I returned from India the end of June, I have been reflecting on how chaotic the world seems, and even how our daily lives can be filled with so much pain and worry. This verse from the Psalms came to my mind, and it lifted my spirits to think that we are precious to the God of the universe, and that our lives have meaning because of Him. I hope this thought encourages you as much as it does me.

This is the message we are striving to bring to the young children in our Children’s Home—that each of them is precious in the eyes of God. As you know, our Children’s Home was shut down by the Indian government during the Covid crisis and only recently reopened with 14 children. These beautiful children come from poor families who cannot afford to care for them, so IEM provides them with shelter and food and sends them to local schools. Please pray for this ministry as we are trying to expand its outreach by opening our own school on campus, which is permitted by the government, and thus have more children.

The food kit ministry continues in both Kerala and Uttar Pradesh, with 130 families being helped each month. Please continue to pray for this ministry as we hope to expand and help poor families in Mumbai in the coming months. As IEM supports several churches in the slum areas of Mumbai, this ministry provides real opportunity to help needy people in the area and share the love of Christ with them.

Please continue to pray for my health as I have been dealing with several issues since returning from India. We are looking forward to our fellowship gatherings in both Ohio and Washington state next month. God willing, my children will be sharing about what the Lord is doing in India, and I will be making a video presentation. We hope many of you will be able to attend.

We thank the Lord for your love and participation in this ministry. Many people are being blessed because of your faithfulness.

May God bless you all,

G.V. Mathai and Dayan Mathai
