Prayer Letter • April 2026
“He has given us new birth into a living hope”
1 Peter 1:3–4

Dear Ones,

In April, Christians in India joined believers around the world in celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Although these Christians face many hardships, they embrace the living hope that the resurrection provides, the hope of an inheritance that will never perish, spoil or fade. What a joy it is that we share this hope with Christians around the world.

In several states in northern India, IEM evangelists celebrated Resurrection Day by conducting baptisms of new believers in various villages. From Odisha state, one of our pastors shared the story of an entire Hindu family that accepted Christ. They began by attending a local prayer meeting each month, and after several months, the Holy Spirit prompted them to accept Christ. This is a major development in the community, as the father was a prominent Hindu leader. We praise the Lord that the entire family took baptism on Easter Sunday. Please pray for this family, as they will surely face persecution for their newfound Christian faith. Some pictures from the baptism in Odisha are included in the insert.

At the end of March, we were pleased to inaugurate a new borewell in a village in the state of Uttar Pradesh. I have visited this village two times, and a recent IEM Bible school graduate has joined IEM as an evangelist there. He immediately told us of a desperate need for a new water source for the villagers. We are thankful that we were able to raise the funds to dig a new well and provide the much-needed water for the village.

At the beginning of April, we had our annual fellowship dinner in Holmes County, Ohio. This community of believers has been supporting the work of IEM for more than 50 years. We had a blessed time of fellowship, sharing about the exciting things God is doing throughout India. I’m so grateful that my sister Mishal and her family joined me and provided music, and testimonies, from our recent trip to India. My nephew Ethan’s wife Daisy and her parents, Dave and Vicki, also joined us for the fellowship dinner.

Thank you for your continued prayers in support of the work of the Lord in India. May God bless you and your family.

In Him,

Dayan Mathai
