April 2023

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

Psalm 119:105

Beloved Ones,

In the famous passage above, the psalmist declares that God’s Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. What a joy that we can labor together to bring the lamp of God’s Word to people who are living in darkness. In India, IEM is seeking to provide God’s Word to many people who have never been exposed to it before, and train up a new generation of Christians who are equipped in the power of God’s Word.

We have received a very encouraging report from our evangelist working in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh (U.P.). Robin and his family are working full time in ministry and are engaged in the food kit distribution program and building a local church community. When Dayan and our administrator, Reji, visited U.P. in January, Robin took them to a remote village where Robin and his wife have begun a Sunday School ministry amongst the village children. They noticed there was not a sufficient place for the children to gather together to meet, and the local people suggested building a hut to provide shelter from the sun and rain. So we have provided some funds to help build this hut. In April the hut was completed, and the children are excited to have a nice place to meet. Pastor Robin has also been traveling around U.P. meeting Indian pastors—encouraging them and helping recruit students for our Bible College in Kerala.

In April we began our latest Leadership Training session at our campus in Kerala. Approximately 80 professionals from various denominations and walks of life are attending this intensive six-week Bible training program. We pray that at the end of this training program participants will be invigorated in their faith and have practical training on how to share the Gospel with their friends, co-workers, and family. Please pray for this program, that it will continue to be a blessing to all who participate.

Next month our IEM Board will be gathering to make plans for the coming year. Also, Dayan is praying about going back to India in June to inaugurate the new Bible College class. I am praying about going if my health permits. We are extremely grateful for your faithfulness to this ministry for so many years. Thank you for upholding us in your prayers as we also pray for you. We love you all very much!

May God Bless You,

G.V. Mathai and Dayan Mathai
